12 Signs You’re Working with a Coach (Like Me!)

Working with a coach is not just about setting goals or checking tasks off a list — it's about real transformation. As someone who’s guided people through burnout, identity shifts, and deep emotional healing, I often say: Coaching is not about fixing you — it’s about reconnecting you to who you truly are. Many people struggle with the concept of the coach. I often get asked ‘What is it exactly’, ‘what do you achieve with it’? Our world has moved forward so much when it comes to understanding mental health and therapy that most people are familiar with the concept of going to therapy or participating in therapy. However, coaching is not the same as therapy and it is also not the same as chatting to your friend for advice. Coaching does help you define, clarify and take actions towards your goals, while keeping you accountable and also prompting you to enjoy the journey. Although much of coaching is a 2 way discussion, the coach gently guides you towards structure. An end goal in mind. The happiest version of yourself. You in 5 years time - how to get there. Here I wanted to share some inspired thoughts on what it means to work with someone like me for a period of time. It won’t happen after a session or 2 but with consistent work, you get to the below goals.

If you’re wondering what life looks like when you step into coaching with me at A Mindful Escape, here are 12 powerful signs of change you’ll start to experience — all based on real journeys I’ve witnessed in my practice.

1. You know how to have fun and enjoy life again

So many of us forget how to play. Burnout, people-pleasing, and constant striving take the joy out of living. One of the first shifts my clients notice is that they start smiling again — sometimes for no reason. In our work together, we make space for joy, spontaneity, and rediscovering the little things that make you feel alive.

2. You’re clear on what really matters to you

When the noise dies down, your truth becomes clearer. Whether you come to me feeling lost, stuck, or “off track,” one of our first goals is to reconnect you with your core values — the things that truly light you up. From there, we can realign your decisions and your path.

3. You confidently use your strengths

So often we downplay our gifts. In my coaching, I help you identify what makes you powerful — not in a hustle culture way, but in an embodied, authentic way. We turn your inner critic into a cheerleader and build the courage to use your strengths unapologetically.

4. You feel more connected to yourself and others

The deeper work of A Mindful Escape is about connection. As you start showing up more truthfully for yourself, you’ll find your relationships shift too. You’ll attract more aligned people, speak with more clarity, and stop abandoning yourself for approval.

5. You follow through and get the important stuff done

Not by pushing or forcing, but by clearing the blocks. We uncover what’s been holding you back — whether it’s fear, perfectionism, or exhaustion — and create systems that support you. Coaching gives you momentum that feels sustainable.

6. You’ve learned the importance of the word "No"

This is a big one. “No” is a boundary, a full sentence, and a radical act of self-care. Many of my clients (especially women) have been taught to overextend, overgive, and overperform. In our sessions, you’ll learn to say no without guilt — and feel free because of it.

7. You’re no longer scared of your inner critic

That harsh voice? It’s usually trying to protect you — just in the worst possible way. I help you understand and disarm your inner critic, not by silencing it, but by giving your wiser voice more space to speak.

8. You worry less about things that may never happen

Anxiety thrives on “what ifs.” Through mindfulness, coaching tools, and nervous system regulation (which we integrate into my retreats too), you’ll learn to stay in the now. You’ll worry less, breathe more, and respond instead of react.

9. You boldly go for what you want in life

Courage is a muscle. The more you use it, the more natural it feels. Whether it’s changing careers, setting boundaries, or starting something new, coaching gives you the clarity and support to take bold, heart-led steps forward.

10. You’re full of optimism and ideas

When you’re no longer stuck in survival mode, your creativity returns. Many of my clients feel “sparked” again — like ideas start flowing, and new possibilities feel exciting rather than overwhelming. We create space for that energy to thrive.

11. You’re learning to express the beauty of who you are

True confidence isn’t loud — it’s quiet self-acceptance. In our work, we peel back the conditioning and reconnect you to your essence. That version of you that doesn’t hide, shrink, or prove. You’ll learn to show up in the world with softness and strength.

12. You feel truly thankful for your life and everything in it

Gratitude becomes second nature. Not the performative kind — but real, grounded appreciation for where you are, who you are, and the life you’re building. That’s the magic of coaching. That’s the heart of A Mindful Escape.
