A Mindful escape wins best emerging wellbeing provider for 2025

I am not even going to hide it, I am so very excited to have had A Mindful Escape be recognised internationally for the work we have been doing the past 2 years. Not that awards are the only form of recognition. I have seen the impact of the work I do written on people’s faces but it is always nice to feel seen.

As a young company in a very busy and loud market, it has not always been easy to keep going. Especially on the days when things have not felt as aligned as I would have wanted them to be. However, I have kept going the past 2 years because I truly believe in the positive impact A Mindful Escape can have on people’s day to day wellbeing.

As time went by and the ethos behind the company morphed into what it is today, we are on a mission to help people remember what wellbeing means. Because if we paused for a bit, we will notice how broken our society is becoming. In some places more than others.

A Mindful Escape is a company with a mission and I am grateful LuxLife Magazine recognised the passion and hard work behind what we do. The areas I will continue to focus on and evolve the company in, are the ones that make us human. The ones we are slowly but surely drifting away from and not realising the devastating impact those actions have on us. My 1:1s, workshops and retreats all focus on the 5 areas below which were crafted after a lot of research, personal leadership experience and dedicated learning to develop the best structure to enhance each and everyone of my clients’ human experience.

Constant state of fight or flight

In today’s world our nervous systems are in a constant state of fight or flight, our relaxation response just does not switch on. If we observe animals, let’s say a gazelle being chased by a predator, it is in fight or flight (most likely flight) mode. However, let’s say it manages to outrun the predator, a few minutes later it can be happily grazing grass or napping (relaxation response = on). With us humans nowadays, we never get to the relaxation response because we are constantly chased by modern day ‘predators’ - our boss, our notifications, errands, the meanness of the world. So if we do not make conscious effort to switch off, and enter into relaxation mode on purpose, we may never get there. You may think, what is the problem with that? The problem is that our bodies are not meant to be in a constant state of stress. Because if they are, there are a number of physiological processes that trigger and actually damage our bodies over a long period of time. Raising awareness about that and also supporting people to be more mindful with their time and stress responses is a key component of all A Mindful Escape workshops.

Lack of connection to our bodies

A Mindful escape retreat - stretching practice

We have stopped listening to our bodies. Whenever we feel discomfort we just push it down and soldier on because there are a few urgent emails to respond to, an errand to be ran, kids to be entertained and so on. Our bodies are designed to protect us, they are designed to alert us to danger and bring our attention to areas that need some TLC. However, we have completely forgotten to be able to pause and tackle those signals, look after ourselves and nourish our bodies. Another hugely influential trend is fast food, eating at our desks and overall poor nutrition due to lack of time and focus to nourish our bodies. I understand that today’s pace is different and certain sacrifices need to be made in order for us to be successful. However, everything is about balance and the problem is that we dedicate no time to nourishment even when we have the option.

Diminishing connection to our souls

A Mindful escape retreat - connection to the soul in nature

Similar to our bodies, our souls are also left a little bit behind in our daily priorities. Working in a corporate world for so many years, it was unfortunate to learn that at the end of the day the virtuous do not necessarily win/succeed. It is tough to nourish the soul in a soul crushing world, a world demanding us to look away and ignore injustice. There were times of righteousness, spirituality and discovery being the central focus of society, while we are now living in a time of pure materialism. However, everything in the universe is cyclical, so we are likely seeing the turn of that sooner or later. Our aim through A Mindful Escape is to raise awareness about it, to remind everything that it is not all about the Chanel bags because those are not the values that got us to where we are as a society through the centuries.

Fear of connection with our emotions

One of my personal favourites to work with. I have been on the path myself many a times until I realised that the only way is through - there is no option of not acknowledging what we feel, sitting with it and facing it in order to process it. Our world has glamourised healing. Healing is not glamorous, it is a lonely and tough journey. However, the feeling at the end is worth it. I see a lot of people nowadays who are either so scared to feel that they suppress everything or people who believe anything and everything is a trigger. Both spectrums need to be worked on, as they are not a healthy state of mind. A side note on here that I am not a psychologist and I am not talking about clinical cases or heavy trauma responses, which should always be referred to a medical professional. I am talking about our day to day human experience and making it a more fulfilling one. Note I did not say pleasant. We seem to be chasing pleasure and happiness throughout, never stopping to enjoy the moment we are in. A very hedonistic pursuit of life which often leads to disappointment and a feeling of void. A Mindful Escape focuses on the now, connecting with ourselves in the present moment, being grateful for what we have and what we are given instead of living with regret (past) or fear (the future).

Digital device plague

It is now a daily occurrence to see people, friends, couples, families dining together in silence while on their phones. It truly is an addiction, especially social media. The algorithms have become so sophisticated that they know how to keep us infinitely scrolling. Missing out on life, missing out on moments, missing out on human connection. We are not built like this - as species. We are built for social interaction and human touch, and behind the scenes, our brains are suffering, however we are too hooked to notice.
