How much does coaching cost?
When we look to work with a coach and master ourselves be that personally or professionally, cost is of course an important factor to consider. I do not believe there is a standard (average) pricing but I will talk about my pricing and how it works. I will also explain why it makes more sense to purchase a package, rather than 1 off sessions.
Average coaching costs with Deyana:
The first session is for us to meet and check if we are a match, without commitment. We can establish if coaching is for you, what exactly do you want to focus on and if I could be of help. If we do decide to work together, there are a few options:
Ad-hoc 1h sessions - a session with me is €60/£55, you can book them via my calendar whenever suits, for as long as there is a benefit for us to meet. This approach suits someone who just needs a sounding board from time to time, needs support in a situation that is short term, rather than someone who wants to work on a specific area with a results driven framework.
1 month package - a 1 month package is €200/£190 which includes 4 x 1h sessions on a day and at a time that suits you. We create a structured goal (priority) -> action plan -> result framework and work on it within the month. This is ideal for short term goals, projects with an immediate deadline or a situation that needs immediate resolution.
3 months package - a 3 month package is €499/£450 which includes 12 x 1h sessions on a day and time that suits you. This package is suitable for someone struggling with burnout, going through a period of increased pressure personally and professionally and who would benefit from a structured framework over a period of time to keep them on track and accountable.
Online vs In-person coaching costs
In my case there is no difference between us doing sessions online or in-person. My sessions are priced based on my time spent with you not the medium used.
What does it take to see results?
I would love to say that we do a coaching session and everything is amazing. The reality is that it takes time and consistency. The good news though is that unlike talk therapy, coaching uses tools and frameworks to continuously move you forward towards your goal. As an action driven, collaborative and forward looking practice, coaching’s success is all about the client making progress. I think, in my personal professional opinion, it will take an investment of at least €499/£450 to see results/changes. This can be through a package or through ad-hoc sessions.
Therapy versus coaching costs
Coaching and therapy get muddled together a lot but in fact they are very different. First and foremost, coaches are not medical professionals. Coaches (at least speaking for me) are people with vast life and professional experience who have reached leadership roles, have ran large teams, managed people for a number of years and can support aspiring individuals on their journey. Coaches support their clients with actions, frameworks and experience rather than medical advice as therapists do. Therapy costs vary as much as coaching costs. I have worked with therapists who charge £40/h and ones that charge £300/h, as with everything it depends on your needs and whom you vibe with.
Is coaching worth the cost?
If you ask me I would say ‘of course’ but do not take my word for it. A lot of my clients enjoy having conversations with me to support them see clarity, reduce anxiety about certain decisions, move into a career shift while assessing all possibilities (risk/reward) in a structured way. The beauty of coaching is that it provides the client with a thinking framework. Sometimes we feel stuck on a topic or a situation and through coaching and the correct framework applied to a situation, you can make huge leaps of progress. I remember the first tme I worked with a career coach many years ago. I was getting ready to make a huge leap in my career but I was scared and I was unsure if it was the right thing to do, how would I know if it was etc…? My coach sat with me, gave me a very but really very simple exercise to do and I walked out of my session knowing exactly what to do. This is what inspired me to expand y coaching skills throughout my career. It is a beautiful moment when you can help a client get unstuck from a spot they have been at for awhile and feeling uncomfortable and scared.
Coaching as already mentioned is not therapy, it is not a replacement for therapy and is not a quick fix.
